A CPR class usually teaches how to respond to someone who has collapsed or stopped breathing, with hands-on practice on a training dummy. Ask the provider what the class covers, such as adults, children or first aid.

Ask the provider exactly what you receive when the class ends, such as a card or certificate, who issues it and how long it stays valid. Pros Around does not check certificates or training standards.

Employers and licensing bodies set their own rules. Before you book, ask your employer or the body that asks for it which course they accept, then ask the provider whether theirs fits.

Some providers teach part or all of a class online and others teach in person only. Ask the provider how it is taught and whether a hands-on skills session is included, especially if someone requires it of you.

Call the emergency number, which is 911 in the US, right away. A class cannot replace emergency services. Follow the dispatcher's instructions while help is on the way.

The price depends on the size and difficulty of the job. Some pros publish a starting price on their listing. Ask two or three for a written quote that says what is included, and compare the scope as well as the price.
