They are two types of foam with different densities and properties. Ask the installer which they recommend for your attic, wall or crawl space, and why, in writing.

Ask the installer. Installers usually give written instructions on when to stay out and when it is safe to return. Follow their written guidance and ask about pets, children and anyone with breathing problems.

It depends on the state, and sometimes the city. Where a licence is required, ask for the number and check it with the licensing board before work starts. On Pros Around, "Licence verified" means we matched the licence number to the board's record on the date shown. We do not check insurance, so ask for proof of it.

The areas to be done, the type of foam, the thickness, labour, what prep is included, and the warranty. Ask how they measure the thickness and what the quote says if the area turns out to be larger.

Not always. Ask the installer to inspect the space first, and to tell you about any moisture, wiring, roof or ventilation issue to fix first. Do not agree to work before they have looked.

The price depends on the size and difficulty of the job. Some pros publish a starting price on their listing. Ask two or three for a written quote that says what is included, and compare the scope as well as the price.
