We’re Still Adding Beauty School Pros in Manhattan.

Ask which programmes it offers, what the schedule looks like, what the total cost is and what it covers (kits, books, fees), and whether it is approved by the state. Ask for the enrolment agreement in writing before you sign anything.

It depends on the state, and sometimes the city. Many states require schools to be approved and graduates to pass a state exam to work. Ask the school for its approval and check it with the state licensing board. On Pros Around, "Licence verified" means we matched the licence number to the board's record on the date shown.

Some schools offer services performed by students, under an instructor. Ask whether this is offered, how students are supervised, and how booking works. Prices and availability are set by each school.

Ask the school how its programme relates to your state's requirements, and what the exam process is. Rules differ by state, so also check the state licensing board's own site.

Ask whether the school offers payment plans or accepts any aid, what the terms are, and what happens if you stop part way. Pros Around cannot give financial advice, so read the contract before you agree.

Only customers who contacted a pro through Pros Around can review them, using a link that works once. Pros can reply but cannot delete a review, and reviews are never sold. An admin hides a review only if it breaks our rules, and the reason is recorded.

By the plan a pro has chosen, then a Featured badge, then review quality. A higher plan can place a pro higher; between pros on the same plan, reviews decide. Anything paid for is labelled.
