Gluten is a protein in wheat, barley and rye. A gluten-free dish is made without them, but the term can mean different things at different places. Ask the restaurant what its gluten-free label means and how it prevents cross-contact.

Pros Around cannot give medical advice. Tell the restaurant about your condition, and ask how the kitchen prevents cross-contact and whether the whole kitchen is gluten-free.

Pros Around does not hold menus or prices. Look at the business's own listing or call them, and ask whether the menu changes by day or season. Prices can differ between dine-in, takeout and delivery, so ask which one you are looking at.

Not automatically. A gluten-free kitchen may still use nuts, dairy, egg or soy. Tell the restaurant about your allergy and ask how the dish is made, including what it is cooked in and with. Pros Around does not hold menus or ingredients, so the kitchen is the only reliable source. Ask again each visit, because recipes can change.

Do not assume. Ask which dishes are made gluten-free, and whether sauces, fryers and prep areas are separate.
