Ask the technician for the age of the system, what failed, the cost of the repair, and the cost of a replacement, in writing. A repair on a system near the end of its life can cost more over time than replacing it, but only the quote and the system's age can tell you.

The make and size (capacity) of any new equipment, what is removed and what is reused, labour, permits, the warranty on parts and on labour, and the start and finish dates.
