Masonry Contractor in Honolulu, HI

Masons work with brick, stone, block and concrete. Typical jobs include walls, chimneys, steps, patios, retaining walls and repairs to mortar joints. Ask whether the person you are talking to does your type of job, because masons often specialise.

Repointing means removing worn mortar between bricks or stones and replacing it. Crumbling mortar, gaps and loose bricks are common signs. Ask the mason to show you the damage and explain which joints need work and why.

It can be minor or a sign of movement, and only an on-site look can tell. Ask the mason to say what they think caused it. If they suggest a structural problem, consider asking a structural engineer to look as well.

It depends on the state, and sometimes the city. Retaining walls, chimneys and structural work often need a permit, so ask who applies. Where a licence is required, check the number with the licensing board. On Pros Around, Licence verified means we matched the number to the board's record on the date shown.

It should say what will be built or repaired, the materials by type, how the old material will be removed, the foundation or base, and how matching to existing work will be handled. Ask about the warranty on the work and a start and finish date.

The price depends on the size and difficulty of the job. Some pros publish a starting price on their listing. Ask two or three for a written quote that says what is included, and compare the scope as well as the price.

Only customers who contacted a pro through Pros Around can review them, using a link that works once. Pros can reply but cannot delete a review, and reviews are never sold. An admin hides a review only if it breaks our rules, and the reason is recorded.
