Civil and Structural Engineer in Aurora, IL

Common reasons are removing or altering a load-bearing wall, foundation cracks or movement, new additions, retaining walls, drainage problems and site works. Ask the engineer whether they handle your type of problem, because engineers specialise.

It depends on the job. It might be an inspection report, calculations, or drawings for a contractor or the city. Ask in writing what you will receive, in what form, and whether it is suitable for a permit application.

Engineering work offered to the public is regulated in many places, and the rules differ by state. Ask for the licence number and check it with the state board. Ask who signs and stamps the plans and whether your city requires it. On Pros Around, Licence verified means we matched the number to the board's record on the date shown.

Not necessarily. An engineer's report is written analysis. A contractor may give a view as part of a quote. Ask the engineer what they inspected, what they did not, and what the findings are based on, and keep the report with your property records.

Ask about experience with your type of job, what the fee covers, whether site visits are included, how changes are handled, and when you will get the work. Ask whether the engineer will talk to your contractor or the city if questions come up.

The price depends on the size and difficulty of the job. Some pros publish a starting price on their listing. Ask two or three for a written quote that says what is included, and compare the scope as well as the price.

Only customers who contacted a pro through Pros Around can review them, using a link that works once. Pros can reply but cannot delete a review, and reviews are never sold. An admin hides a review only if it breaks our rules, and the reason is recorded.
